This
2-day tour takes you on a journey through the beautiful Scottish Highlands and
includes an overnight stay in a small village near Loch Ness. Admire the
dramatic Highland scenery and hear tales of Scotland's epic history from your
expert guide as you tour Stirling, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Loch Ness and more.
Take an optional boat cruise on famous Loch Ness, visit a whisky distillery,
and tour the impressive Urquhart Castle, the magnificently situated castle on
the banks of Loch Ness.
Day 1:
After
departing Edinburgh in the morning, head north by mini-coach and make your way
to Stirling, the former capital of Scotland. Here, see the mighty Wallace
Monument, built in honor of the national hero and guardian Sir William Wallace.
Continue your journey through the wilderness of Rannoch Moor and through
dramatic Glencoe, which was the scene of the infamous massacre in 1692.
Pass
through Fort William, one of the largest settlements in the Scottish Highlands,
and follow the length of Great Glen until you will arrive in the charming
village of Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness. In the evening, take an
optional boat cruise on Loch Ness (own expense) and try to spot the famous
Nessie monster.

Day 2:
After
a full Scottish breakfast, begin your second day by following the shores of
legendary Loch Ness with a stop at the stunning ruins of Urquhart Castle, from
where the monster has been spotted in the lake many times. Entry to this
historic castle is included. Learn how it once served as one of the largest
strongholds of medieval Scotland and climb the visitable tower of Urquhart's
remains which provides you with gorgeous views.
Heading
northeast, make your way to the Culloden battlefield and hear the guide's
recitation of the final Jacobite uprising led by Bonnie Prince Charlie, and
learn about the last battle fought on British soil. Continue your drive through
Cairngorms National Park and into beautiful Perthshire, a land of forests,
rivers and mountains. Stop in the quaint Highland village of Pitlochry for
lunch at one of the local restaurants (own expense).
You'll
also have the chance to visit a local whisky distillery to sample Scotland's
most famous drink (own expense). Afterwards, pass the famous Forth Bridge as
you begin your relaxing journey back to Edinburgh.
